The research conducted by using Google Trends also found the number of searches for unlicensed casino brands targeting Sweden to have risen by 305% in the last 12 months. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">The study also discovered that in the last 12 months searches for \u2018casino utan licens\u2019 (and other similar terms), saw a 710% growth compared to a 173% increase in \u2018online casino\u2019.<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">In March this year, initial <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bonusfinder.com\/about-us\/blog\/germanys-gambling-legislation-might-create-a-black-market-worth-billions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BonusFinder research<\/a><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"> found that almost a third of Swedish online casino players are searching online for \u2018unlicensed casinos\u2019, with growing numbers turning to black-market brands due to the market\u2019s restrictive gaming regulations, introduced in January 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">The Swedish government\u2019s new plans include the introduction of stricter bonus limits of SEK100 (\u20ac8), as well as mandatory weekly deposit limits of SEK5,000 (\u20ac458) that would be in place for an initial six-month period from June 1. <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Fintan Costello, Managing Director<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">, <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bonusfinder.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bonusfinder.com<\/a><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">, said: \u201cWe understand the Swedish government has put forward its proposals with the best intentions to protect its citizens, but as our research has shown, the existing restrictive measures have resulted in a large number of players turning to unlicensed operators outside of the legal framework and without any protection. Channelisation rates are falling and unlicensed brands are booming.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201cOur message to the government is to seriously reconsider its proposals. More stringent measures would only serve to further fuel the existing black market.
