\"\"The Sazka Group<\/a> who are bidding for the UK National Lottery<\/a> License has come out and said it would only sell their products to 18 years and over if they were to win the UK bid.<\/p>\n

At present Camelot<\/a> who have operated the National Lottery since 1991 allow 16 year olds and above to purchase lottery tickets and scratch cards.<\/p>\n

In a move to critic the current operator and just before the government begins a full 16 week review of gambling in the UK Sazka have stated they would raise the age limit to 18.<\/p>\n

A Sazka spokesperson said: \u201cIn accordance with local laws, Sazka Group currently limits the sale of its lottery products to those who are 18 years of age and older in four of our existing European lottery markets and for online sales in the fifth, markets where we have proven that innovation and strong player protection measures can work in tandem to grow lottery sales and fund good causes.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd while it is of course a matter for the Gambling Commission and legislators to decide here in the United Kingdom, we would strongly support moving the age limit on lottery products from 16 to 18 should that be the result of the upcoming consultation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Camelot\u2019s license expires in 2023 and it is understood both Sazka and the Virgin Group run by Richard Branson will bid for the UK Lottery operator license.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
