Sheldon Adelson boss of Las Vegas Sands<\/p><\/div>\n

The chairman and CEO of Las Vegas Sands, Sheldon Adelson<\/a> is taking a leave of absence from day to day running of the casino business as he receives medical treatment for cancer.<\/p>\n

While away president and chief operating officer Robert Goldstein will assume all responsibilities for the company, back in March 2019 Adelson was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and it is understood that this treatment will commence again.<\/p>\n

The company said in a statement that they do not have a timeframe for when their Chairman & CEO will return.<\/p>\n

It was only last week reports emerged that Adelson and James Packer<\/a> had met over the New Years to possibly discuss Las Vegas Sands<\/a> involvement in Crown Resorts, however those rumours have not been confirmed by either party.<\/p>\n

Sheldon Adelson is a strong figure within the casino industry and at the age of 87 years old it would not be surprising if he took a step back from general operations and let his trusted lieutenant Robert Goldstein, he has been with the company since 1995 and assumed the role of president and COO in 2015.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
