{"id":44490,"date":"2021-02-08T07:32:31","date_gmt":"2021-02-08T07:32:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gaming-awards.com\/NEWS\/?p=44490"},"modified":"2021-02-08T07:32:31","modified_gmt":"2021-02-08T07:32:31","slug":"first-gambling-license-in-ukraine-begins-controversy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gaming-awards.com\/NEWS\/first-gambling-license-in-ukraine-begins-controversy\/","title":{"rendered":"First Gambling License In Ukraine Begins Controversy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-32338\" src=\"https:\/\/gaming-awards.com\/NEWS\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/license-300x271.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"271\" \/>There seems to be some controversy over the recent issuing of the first gambling license in the <a href=\"https:\/\/igamingpost.com\/gambling-law-to-be-passed-by-end-of-year-in-ukraine\/\">Ukraine<\/a> by the Commission for Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries (CRGL).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Last week the <a href=\"https:\/\/igamingpost.com\/gambling-law-to-be-passed-by-end-of-year-in-ukraine\/\">CRGL<\/a> announced it had issued a license to Speisiks LLC, who operates the Cosmolot brand which ran lotteries previously, and now will be working in the online gambling sector under the new license.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">However other stakeholders involved in license applications said they were surprised by the granting of the license as they were still awaiting clarification from the newly formed regulator on the technical certification of the Gambling Law.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">According to reports the CRGL has already rejected 15 license applications before the issuing of the license to Speisiks LLC over technical specifications.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Indeed the <a href=\"https:\/\/igamingpost.com\/ukraine-president-signs-gambling-act-into-law\/\">Ukraine government<\/a> are yet to implement the standards for \u2018technical accreditation\u2019 for licensees even thou the <a href=\"https:\/\/igamingpost.com\/ukraine-president-signs-gambling-act-into-law\/\">gambling law<\/a> was legalised in the summer of 2020. Also the technology, operating systems, applications and enforcement controls for operators and suppliers are still to be clarified.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">As such there are concerns because these rules and also the tax structure for licensees are still sitting in the Ukraine parliament of the Rada\u2019s floor which has stalled in agreeing them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Possible legal challenges to the issuing of the license by the regulator to Speisiks LLC could now take place as it seems unfair to others while the framework and tax structure remains undecided.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There seems to be some controversy over the recent issuing of the first gambling license in the Ukraine by the Commission for Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries (CRGL).
