The legislation was overwhelmingly approved by the House of Representatives last week, returning a vote of 71-28 in favour of its introduction.<\/p>\n
The bill articulates a key safeguarding measure within its cashless gaming proposals, designed to protect punters from transferring too many funds into \u2018digital wallets,\u2019 the platforms which will be utilized by casino concessionaires to support this endeavour. A \u2018cooling-off\u2019 period will be integrated into these applications, serving to stop players from indiscriminately adding credit to their accounts.<\/p>\n
However, despite this development, substantial resistance to cashless gaming still exists in the Hawkeye State, and indeed further afield. Dissenting voices stress that this method of gaming can increase the threat of problem gambling, accentuated by the younger profile of those most likely to engage in this activity.<\/p>\n
In Iowa specifically, Republican representative Sandy Salmon has expressed her concern. She states that cashless gaming, \u2018makes the availability and access to gambling so much easier, thus increasing its danger and addictive power.\u2019 Advocates suggest that the \u2018cooling-off\u2019 period more than addresses this challenge.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s anticipated that e-sports wagering will incur attract less hostility, despite its target market being players of a similar demographic to those likely to participate in cashless gaming opportunities.
