{"id":51922,"date":"2022-12-15T01:46:14","date_gmt":"2022-12-15T01:46:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gaming-awards.com\/NEWS\/?p=51922"},"modified":"2022-12-14T15:00:23","modified_gmt":"2022-12-14T15:00:23","slug":"rank-owned-daub-alderney-loses-appeal-against-fine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gaming-awards.com\/NEWS\/rank-owned-daub-alderney-loses-appeal-against-fine\/","title":{"rendered":"Rank Owned Daub Alderney Loses Appeal Against Fine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-41246\" src=\"https:\/\/gaming-awards.com\/NEWS\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/rank20logo-300x98.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"98\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gaming-awards.com\/NEWS\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/rank20logo-300x98.png 300w, https:\/\/gaming-awards.com\/NEWS\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/rank20logo-418x138.png 418w, https:\/\/gaming-awards.com\/NEWS\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/rank20logo.png 422w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Daub Alderney a company owned by the UK gaming operator Rank Group since 2019 has lost its appeal to a fine imposed by the UK Gambling Commission.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The company which also runs aspers.com, kittybingo.com, luckypantsbingo.com, luckyvip.com, magicalvegas.com, regalwins.com and spinandwin.com \u2013 had also received formal warnings for the failures which occurred between January 2019 and March 2020.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In its notice on the site the UK regulator posted:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">A court has rejected an operator\u2019s appeal against a Gambling Commission penalty.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In September 2021 the Commission fined Daub Alderney \u00a35.85m for social responsibility and anti-money laundering failures.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Daub Alderney appealed to the First-Tier Tribunal on the grounds that the financial penalty was excessive, unfair and disproportionate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">But following a hearing Judge Findlay dismissed the appeal and stated the financial penalty was a \u201cfair and reasonable regulatory response\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">She said: \u201cI find that there were serious breaches which were similar to the breaches for which a substantial financial penalty was imposed in 2018 and there are no new facts which persuade me that the decision was wrong. I find that the (Commission Regulatory) Panel did not err in law and complied with its statutory obligations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Sarah Gardner, Commission Deputy CEO, said: \u201cWe welcome the First-Tier Tribunal\u2019s decision to dismiss this appeal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cWe do not take the decision to fine gambling companies lightly but we will always take firm, decisive action against operators who fail to follow rules aimed at making gambling safe and free from crime.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Daub Alderney a company owned by the UK gaming operator Rank Group since 2019 has lost its appeal to a fine imposed by the UK Gambling Commission.
