Caesars Pull Out Of Japan

The first loser in the race for a Japanese Integrated Resort License has been announced as Caesars Entertainment has officially declared it is pulling out of the potential bidding for a piece of the Japanese market.
With Caesars not a part of the Macau gaming industry it was expected the US gambling giant would push hard to get into the Japanese market which is valued between $25 billion and $40 billion a year, making it the second biggest gambling region in the World behind Macau.
However following the announcement earlier this year of the merger with Eldorado Resorts Caesars says it wants to focus on its current commitments.
Tony Rodio the CEO of Caesars said that the timing of the company’s decision was driven by “sensitivity to the significant decisions Japan’s government and business partners will likely be making later this year to advance the process”.
With the departure of Caesars there are still many interested parties with MGM recently confirming its commitment to Japan along with Wynn Resorts, Galaxy Entertainment, Melco Resorts, Genting and the favourite for one of the Japanese licenses Las Vegas Sands.
