The results for Macau for the month of February have just been released and no surprise as the figures show a massive drop of nearly 88% on revenues compared to the same period last year.

In what is the biggest ever drop in revenues for a single month Macau registered a fall of 87.8%, mainly due to the closure of all operations for two weeks in the world’s largest gambling hub to help control the spread of the coronavirus.

In total Macau has recorded 10 cases of the COVID-19 virus and has not reported any new cases since the close down, but on re-opening on the 19th February customers have largely stayed away since the outbreak began killing thousands on mainland China.

Since the re-opening of operations in Macau government officials have ordered that all gamblers and staff wear face masks to reduce the possibility of any more cases of the deadly virus.

Many analyst’s believe March will of course improve but will certainly be another bad month for revenues as the virus continues to spread throughout Asia.
