Macau Concessions To Extend Till 2025

One of the most influential investment banks believes that the Macau government will extend the current concessions on Macau casino operators till 2025 and not tender for new bidders.

Morgan Stanley issued a forecast for investors last week stating that it strongly believes with the current pandemic badly affecting business in Macau it would be hugely unfair to look for new tenders while the current operators have had a seriously disastrous year.

Current estimates have Macau revenues down 75% on the year due to closures and restrictions on travel to the tiny gambling enclave from China and Hong Kong.

The investment bank says that the current incumbents and any new bidders would need a year or more to place any bids on the table and given the current situation it would be better to have an extension till 2025 and then start the process of tenders again then.
