Sazka Group Partners With Vodafone For UK Lottery Bid
Sazka Group the lottery firm that is bidding for the UK National Lottery has now enlisted the help of Vodafone in a partnership to boost online sales of lottery tickets.
The mobile giant is now helping the lottery company that has rebranded in the UK to Allwyn for the bid in boosting customers to play online instead of paper ticket version. Since the start of the pandemic sales in online tickets has risen massively in the last twelve months.
Sisal Group who is Sazka’s biggest rival in Europe is believed to be making a late bid for the National Lottery which is currently operated since its conception in 1994 by Camelot.
However there is a belief that Camelot may lose out as there are some impressive bids coming in, not least from Sazka Group who are now believed to be the favourite.
Camelot is owned by a Canadian pension fund but was formerly a consortium of companies such as Cadbury Schweppes, Gtech Corporation and De La Rue.
Sazka has the backing of asset firm Apollo Global Management and Sisal has the backing of investment firm CVC which is well known in the gaming sector.
The UK Gambling Commission will decide on the merits of all bidders and announce the winner in the Autumn of this year, whichever the winning bidder will be, will then take control of the National Lottery from 2023.
