Adelson still opposes online gambling

GAMBLING tycoon Shelson Adelson has expressed his opposition towards online gambling in an article in the Las Vegas Sun last week. “You don’t want a casino in every home,” says land gambling mogul Sheldon Adelson. He also emphasised his true Vegas roots, despite his growing Asian success within the gambling world.

On the question of internet gambling legalisation, Adelson reiterated his strong aversion to the pastime, saying that he had moral objections on the dangers of having what he characterised as a casino in every home.

Thinking on a practical & commercial level, he warned that legalised online gambling could prejudice land casinos by taking at least between 10 & 20 percent of their revenues.

According to the paper, Adelson revealed that both Senator Harry Reid of Nevada – an influential Democrat & senior politician in Congress said to be working on legalised online poker – & Nevada governor Brian Sandoval, had attempted to persuade him to adopt a more positive frame of mind, but that his opinion remained unchanged.
