Bet365 moves HQ to Gibraltar

Bet365 the online sports betting company has announced it is moving its central operations to the online gambling hub of Gibraltar. The firm which has a large presence in Stoke on Trent said that there will be no redundancies related to the move and will retain a presence also in the midlands town.

However the gambling firm which has always had a small operational unit based in Gibraltar since 2007 said it has decided to make the major move following a review of its structures and will now use Gibraltar as the main hub of its licensing operations.

A Bet365 spokesperson said: “As part of the re-organization, Bet365 is augmenting its existing presence in Gibraltar, a jurisdiction that offers a mature and stable environment for international remote gambling operators.

“Bet365 will now operate its international betting businesses under licences granted by the government of Gibraltar.

“Bet365, which currently holds licences in various territories including Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Denmark and Australia, will also continue with its long-standing policy of pursuing licences in regulated markets and the Bet365 Group, as a whole, remains committed to playing its part in helping to protect the integrity of sport.

“Aside from the staff relocating to Gibraltar, the Bet365 Group will retain a significant presence in Stoke-on-Trent with other existing Bet365 employees remaining there in order to provide various contracted support to the Gibraltar operating hub, including software and technical support, outsourced customer services and contracted marketing services.”

There was no indication of the amount of Bet365 staff that will be relocating to Gibraltar and also how many will remain in Stoke.
