BetEasy Sued For $1.2 Million Over Failure On Terms

BetEasy the Australian based bookmaker is fighting a million dollar lawsuit regarding a customer who claims they did not sign up to the bookies terms and conditions on maximum payouts by the firm.

Renee Bell joined the Crown Casinos VIP reward scheme called the “Crown Casino’s Signature Club” and as part of the scheme all members are automatically signed up to an account on BetEasy, however Bell did not know anything about the account as an employee set it up for her.

Now the central point in the lawsuit for $1.2 million plus punitive damages stems from the fact that when the account was set up by a Crown Employee they automatically agreed to the BetEasy Terms not Bell.

The customer was later informed of the account and signed in to BetEasy and placed bets totalling some $500 mainly on horses that were part owned or bred by relatives. However a massive accumulator came in for Ms Bell and scooped a huge $1.44 million.

But BetEasy refused to pay the full amount as the pointed to their terms where it states that the maximum payout is $250,000 in any one day to any gambler.

However in court documents Bell’s lawyers say: “When she joined the Crown Signature Club she did not agree to CrownBet’s terms and conditions and such terms and conditions were not brought to her attention; and when she first logged in to her CrownBet account she did not agree to CrownBet’s terms and conditions and such terms and conditions were not brought to her attention.”

The case will heard in the Supreme Court on the 13th November.
