Resorts World Catskills Needs Another $150 Million To Keep Going

Empire Resorts the US casino business owned by Genting Malaysia has had to take another $150 million bailout from its owning company to stay afloat.

Resorts World Catskills and the Monticello Raceway are both owned by Empire Resorts and in turn operated by Genting Malaysia, the resort is struggling due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and received a $40 million cash injection in March this year.

The casino was only allowed to reopen on the 9^th September with a restriction of 30 table open out of 150.

Resorts World Catskills was hoped to be a major player in the US being only 90 miles from New York City and the business was expected to pull in New Yorkers instead of them going to New Jersey, but the idea never really took off and the current pandemic is having like all operations a major negative effect.
