Boylesports are said to be close to acquiring a major chain of bookmaking shops in the UK and will most likely complete the deal in the first quarter of the new year.

The Irish based bookmaker is believed to be in a number of talks with several independent bookmakers in the UK as Boylesports looks to jump into the UK market for expansion following the company losing out in 2016 to Stan James & Betfred when 350 Ladbrokes and Coral betting shops were offloaded as part of the agreement for the merger of the two UK companies.

Boylesports said back at the start of 2018 that it expected to have a significant presence in the UK come 2019 and the betting form seems likely now to become a reality should the current talks turn into an acquisition.

Currently Boylesports has a good online presence in the UK that is growing and wants to double down on that now with having a high street presence also. Word from inside Boylesports is that the company are not looking to target the London market but the provinces.

With the UK betting shop business ready to be hit with the reduction on FOBT stakes in the coming year many of the large UK bookmakers are looking more to the US for growth and Boylesports believes this is an ideal time to capitalise on their UK ambitions.
