Caesars want to concentrate on sports betting
Caesars Entertainment has moved to dispose of their interest in the planned casino resort in Incheon, South Korea. The US casino giant was partnered with Hong Kong-listed Guangzhou R&F Properties Co Ltd, but now has sold its interest in the venture to its former partner for an undisclosed amount.
It was slated to be called “Caesars Korea Resort Complex” and be a foreign player only casino but now that has all changed. The resort which has yet to break ground was initially due to open this year but delays and the COVID-19 pandemic has taken its toll and the venture requested a delay in opening till 2024.
But with Caesars now looking more within its own borders in the US for growth especially online with its recent purchase of William Hill it is certain Caesars are now less likely to expand its footprint outside of America.
Indeed the deal to build a casino resort in South Korea was done prior to the acquisition of Caesars Entertainment by Eldorado Resorts for $17 billion and it seems the owners of Caesars want to focus on sports betting expansion within the US.
