Thousands of personal information files of gamblers and VIPs have been dumped on the internet for everyone to see. The data from Cowboys Casino in Calgary contains the files of “elite members” on their gambling habits and even their payout from the casino.
Hackers posted the information on the website Pastebin saying that this is only the smallest of files and they have three other parts to release. According to the hackers who releaed the information they contacted the Cowboys Casino a year ago saying that their online security was non-existent and all their data was “ripe for the taking” and the company should fix their problem. However according to the hackers post following the release of the information Cowboys Casino ignored them for over a year.
With the release of the information the hackers said that they hoped now that the casino company would strengthen their online security.
Cowboys Casino general manager Tyrone Waite, to a local newspaper: “It’s unfortunate it’s happened. We’ve been working on this for a year and it’s always been in the back of our mind it could get out there at any time.”
