Casinos in England are gearing up for the unlocking of its businesses come May 17, with UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson allowing indoor venues such as pubs, restaurants and saunas along with casinos to start their businesses again.

With just a week to go before casinos which have been hit hard since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020 with only a small amount of opening in the summer of last year and most restricted to early closing during the autumn prior to a full lockdown again in January.

Casino’s which is part of the Night Time Industry has beared the main brunt of closures with night clubs closed since March last year, Michael Kill the chief executive of the trade body said: We are pleased to hear within the Prime Minister’s statement the inclusion of a timeline for night-time economy businesses, in particular some of the hardest-hit businesses, many of which have been closed since March 2020, like nightclubs, bars and casinos.

“Despite this, our evidence suggests that 85% of those who work in the night-time economy are considering leaving the sector.

“The sector urgently needs additional clarity on reopening and critical financial support from the Chancellor if we are to avoid economic and social damage that will last a generation.”
