DeGaming appoints Édi Varela as Commercial Director

DeGaming, the Web3-native iGaming platform provider, has appointed Édi Varela as Commercial Director as the company enters its next phase of commercial growth following a successful rebrand.

Varela brings more than a decade of experience across iGaming, payments and commercial account management, including senior roles at Tier 1 providers such as Kaizen Gaming, Gamingtec and Sportingtech. He joins DeGaming from his most recent role as Head of Sales at iGaming and sports betting platform provider OpenTag.

Varela’s appointment comes as DeGaming moves to translate its technology and new brand positioning into greater market expansion.

At the centre of DeGaming’s proposition is the ‘Truth Beats Trust’ philosophy, which replaces the industry’s traditional Black Box model with a proprietary ‘Glass Vault’. The Glass Vault removes the hidden mechanics of the black box and provides real-time proof of funds and visibility across the platform.

Alongside this, DeGaming’s Bankroll-as-a-Service removes the capital barrier, giving operators scalable liquidity and payout backing that remains visible on chain. Glass Vault removes opacity from the mechanics while Bankroll-as-a-Service removes it from the economics. With both, an operator can build a genuinely independent, transparent and financially viable platform.

With this latest hire, DeGaming is in a stronger position to target Web3 operators as well as ‘Next Era operators’, including Web2 brands ready to take the next step.

Ulle Skottling, CEO at DeGaming, said:
“Édi joins us at an important turning point in DeGaming’s development. We have built the technology and established our clear position in the market. The next step is to accelerate adoption and bring our product to more operators.

“Édi’s experience across many areas of the industry gives him a uniquely broad perspective on what our customers need. He understands the commercial realities but also sees where the market is heading. He will play a crucial role in taking our ‘Truth Beats Trust’ philosophy from a brand statement into our commercial relationships.”

Édi Varela, Commercial Director at DeGaming, said: “DeGaming is addressing a problem I have seen throughout my career in iGaming. There is a significant gap between what the industry asks people to trust and what they can actually see with their own eyes.

“I’m excited to lead a team of tenured professionals as we partner with new clients and ensure the post-sales journey fosters strong commercial results for them.”
