Dutch regulator takes action against LCS Limited

Slots operator LCS Limited have been slapped with a cease-and-desist order by Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), the organization empowered to regulate gaming activity in The Netherlands. According to KSA, LCS’s ‘Sons of Slots’ brand has been operational in the country, despite the firm not possessing a Dutch gaming license.

A sting investigation launched in Spring this year revealed that players have been able to deposit funds and actively play games of chance through LCS’s platform. A representative from KSA was able to engage in gambling on two site visits, taking place on 8th March and 12th July, confirming that LCS was offering iGaming titles to Dutch native players. KSA swiftly exercised the strict domestic licensing laws introduced in October last year, whereby operators must hold a relevant permit in order to facilitate such games.

‘’The KSA has established that LCS Limited offers games of chance to Dutch consumers via at least one website. LCS Limited is not licensed to do so. As a result, no supervision is possible, which means that there is no control over, among other things, the fairness of the game and whether sufficient attention is paid to addiction prevention’’ said a regulator spokesperson.

LCS must now halt their Dutch enterprises with immediate effect and ensure native customers cannot access any of their content. If the company resists, Kansspelautoriteit have pledged to fine LCS €55,445 for every week they operate without licence, capped at a maximum penalty cost of €165k.
