Entain Top Job No Women On List

With the forthcoming departure of Shay Segev from Entain as their Chief Executive to DAZN the live sports streaming service as co-chief executive, questions are now arising on who would or could take the helm of the online gambling firm?

Segev is scheduled to depart after his resignation period which ends in July, however it would not be the first time a departing chief is put on gardening leave or indeed allowed to leave early.

Clearly Entain was surprised by the decision of their chief executive given that he had only been installed in the position for seven months. However he had been working for Entain or under its previous name of GVC for five years under the guidance of then chief Kenny Alexander.

Entain themselves are the focus of an approach by US casino giant MGM Resorts with an initial bid of some £8 billion being rejected by the online casino company, but it is expected that MGM will make an improved bid in the coming days or weeks.

So firstly who would take on a role that may not last that long given the impending takeover should that happen?

According to Star Sports who have formulated a list of contenders BetMGM’s CEO Adam Greenblatt is favourite to get the job, given that he is involved in the partnership with MGM and Entain in sports betting in the US it would be a smart call.

However other names are mentioned such as former boss Kenny Alexander, MGM Resorts International CEO William Hornbuckle, former Stars Group Chief Exec Rafi Ashkenazi, Richard Flint, the former SkyBet CEO and William Hill CEO Ulrik Bengtsson.

Since the email of those favourites to succeed to the top job at Entain was sent out there has been some anger that not one woman was mentioned as having a chance at the role.

Indeed one other name mentioned for the position was Ralph Topping who was CEO of William Hill back in 2014!

That brought questions of why cannot the betting company find at least one woman with a chance of succeeding Shay Segev, certainly the gambling industry has some outstanding female senior leaders.

One rumour of a woman who is certainly in with a chance is current Chief Experience Officer at Kindred, Britt Boeskov that is if she wants it?

Another leading woman maybe would be CEO of Casumo Shelly Suter-Hadad or Therese Hillman the CEO of NetEnt.

So we ask you our readers to email us your tips for the Entain job and also we ask Star Sports to offer us odds on the ladies we have mentioned.
