A report published by Macau times on Wednesday, which shared an exclusive interview with Rogelio Yusi Bangsil Jr., a former exec at the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR). In which Bangsil has accused Wynn Macau of illegally sharing his personal data with a US law firm which is investigating alleged misconduct involving PAGCOR execs and Japanese gaming mogul Kazuo Okada.
At Wynn’s request former FBI director Louis Freeh compiled a report in which Bangsil who is a one of the PAGCOR execs is named. As per the report Universal Entertainment CEO Okada offered lavish favours to PAGCOR execs and their family members with MOP 880k (US $110k) worth of hotel stays and other favours at Wynn Macau and casinos in Las Vegas. All this was done in order to win concessions regarding Okada’s proposed Manila casino project.
Macau has strict laws in context to the transfer of personal data to authorities outside the Special Administrative Region. Wynn was fined MOP 20k in 2011 for violating the Personal Data Protection Act. Bangsil also filed a suit against Wynn in November and its hearing is scheduled for June 22. Bangsil is seeking an apology from Wynn as well as undisclosed financial damages as he states there is no truth in the allegations contained in the Wynn report and it has cut down his career and made his family suffer due to it.
Bangsil retired from PAGCOR in 2012 due to these allegations said that Wynn had paid a fine of MOP 20k in 2011 which clearly indicates that the company has made a mistake and they are not apologizing to the victim which is not right. However Wynn report was not the only issue because of which Bangsil had to retire but his alleged failure to spot a cheating scam at PAGCOR run casinos that cost government $37m is also one of the reasons that Philippine legislators called for Bangsil’s dismissal.
