Full Tilt Poker To Be Retired For Good

There are just a few days remaining for Full Tilt Poker (FTP) the online poker platform that help explode poker to the internet.

In an announcement from PokerStars stating that on the 25th February FTP will be totally absorbed into PokerStars and the platform will be no more.

FTP began life back in 2004 and with PokerStars and PartyPoker helped launch the huge rise in playing poker online.

But PokerStars which is now part of Flutter Entertainment has decided the time has come to close the platform for good. It was some ten years ago now that FTP went into freefall after the fallout of Black Friday when the US effectively shutdown online poker, leaving FTP no income and showing that it had in essence spent all the player deposits and so the bank was bare when players wanted their money back.

It turned out that FTP were some $300 million in debt when the US shutdown online poker and many turned to blaming Chris Ferguson, Ray Bitar and Howard Lederer the founders for the disaster.

Then came along PokerStars who in a deal with the US department of Justice helped pay back all the players at FTP in return for the business.

Now comes the final call for FTP, many players will be sad to see another poker platform go even thou it suffered the biggest scandal in poker history.

One poker player told the iGaming Post, “FTP has been losing players for some time now as they transfer over to PokerStars, but as more poker platforms go there is less competition now and that is never good for poker.”
