The announcement by the company said the cost of the development would be in the region of $1.6 billion and would form part of the expanding Galaxy Macau resort. In the statement to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange the company said it would take around 3 years to build and no date yet has been set for the start of the development.
Indeed Galaxy Entertainment Group is still completing Phase 3 of the resort and this is now planned for completion in the second part of 2021. Phase 3 is scheduled for consist of 1,500 hotel rooms, an enlarged casino space, a 16,000 arena space and 40,000 square feet of space for meetings, conferences and event space.
The casino operator has stressed that timelines for both Phase 3 and Phase 4 are dependent on the impact of the OCIVD-19 pandemic on developing the expansions on time.
