It’s not too late

The International Gaming Awards (IGA) is a supporter of The GREat Foundation and the 5th IGA raised several thousands of pounds at the 23rd January event.
However, The GREat Foundation, With just seven weeks to go until the end of its current fundraising year, today urged all Gambling Commission licensed operators that have not yet made a pledge or donation for 2011/12 to do so as soon as possible to ensure that the charity reaches its annual fundraising target of £5million.
Speaking today, Marc Etches – Chief Executive of the Responsible Gambling Trust – said:
“In April The GREaT Foundation and Responsible Gambling Fund will officially merge to become the Responsible Gambling Trust and the fundraising and commissioning roles of the two organisations will be adopted by the new charity. To ensure the best possible start for the Responsible Gambling Trust, it is imperative that GREaT achieves its 2011/12 fundraising goal to enable a smooth transition of responsibilities and immediate future funding to grant beneficiaries.”
Etches added:
“Our 2011/12 fundraising total currently stands at £4.7million and we are extremely grateful to each of the 600 companies that have so far supported GREaT this year. However, with over 3,000 organisations licensed by the Gambling Commission, we are hoping to see a significant increase in our number of donors over the next few weeks as more organisations elect to support The GREaT Foundation as a means of complying with the Gambling Commission’s mandatory code of practice (2.1) which relates to contributing to all three aspects of problem gambling namely research, education and treatment.”
