Japan ready for Tuesday vote on casino resorts

Japan are inching towards a vote in the lower house on Tuesday 6th December following the bill passing the lower house committee after the junior ruling party, the Komeito withdrawing its earlier opposition to the bill that would allow for casino resorts in the country.

With the governments ruling party the Liberal Democratics approving the bill it will now be a race against time as the last session of parliament closes on the 14th December.

The Komeito party had originally wanted to oppose the bill but could not get a consensus on the vote so left it to the Liberal Democrats to decide.

Observers say the bill has a 50/50 chance of making it this time around with opposition still against allowing for casino resorts in Japan as they feel it will create even more problem gambling than already exists, however the government say it will boost economies locally and create jobs.
