Lawrence Ho Believes 2019 Japan IR Bidding Process Begins

The Chairman and Chief Executive of Casino Operator Melco Resort Entertainment Lawrence Ho, believes that the process for bidding for a limited amount of Integrated Resort licenses in Japan will begin in 2019.
The process in total believes Mr Ho will take a year before the winning bidders are announced in 2020, at this time it is unclear how many licenses will be granted but the given perception will be three.
Speaking at the recent China’s People Political Consultative Conference in Beijing Mr Ho said to a local radio station he said: “If by mid-year they [Japan parliament] can pass the bill, that will really kick start the bidding process…in 2019 to 2020, they will be able to have the bidding process to decide who is the winner.”
Once the bidding process has been completed it is understood that the integrated resorts would be up and running by 2025, however recent developments in Japan over a corruption scandal involving some members of the government could de-rail this timeline if the government collapses and goes into a new election should the scandal escalate.
