Grosvenor Casinos in Scotland will stay closed longer
Casinos to close again
With the announcement on Tuesday 14th December that London and parts of the South of England will be placed in the governments Tier 3 level, it means once again casinos along with all other indoor leisure must close from Wednesday 16th December.
It is another major blow to the land based casino industry as it has now several times been allowed to reopen only to be closed again since the pandemic started in March this year.
The Health Secretary Matt Hancock made the announcement in Parliament stating the numbers of infections in the capital were increasing by some 37% a week has forced the government to effectively shut down London in the lead up to Christmas.
However since the reopening of leisure and shops at the beginning of December many large operational casinos have decided to remain closed, one such venue the Les Ambassadeurs Club in Mayfair decided to remain closed till the New Year.
One gaming consultant told the iGaming Post, “it is impossible for venues like casinos and restaurants to order food and supplies knowing that at any time you may be forced to close, let alone the logistics of contacting staff and arranging rotas when you could be closed down again, it is a terribly tough time for everyone at present.”
