Macau Recovery Continues With March Results

Macau

Macau casinos recorded a rise in revenues of 58% compared to the same period in March 2020 to MOP8.31 billion (US$1.04 billion), the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau said that March saw a rise also of 13.6% compared to the previous month February.

As March concludes the first quarter results for Macau gaming stood at MOP23.64 billion in revenues, that is a fall of 22.5% compared to the first quarter of 2020. Many analysts expected the rise in revenues for March as last year the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic impacted heavily on casino operators.

However overall operators and analysts were happy with the results given that monthly revenues are seeing rises, however as the months progress into lockdown from last year revenues will have to be compared to the previous year in 2019 to get a proper idea of how the recovery in Macau in progressing.
