New UK Lords Report Again Bashes Gambling Commission

Following the recent Public Accounts Committee report into reforms towards gambling in the UK a new report has come from the House of Lords Gambling Industry Committee calling for stricter measures for gambling.

Much of the new report from the Lords is a carbon copy of the earlier one and seems just another attempt by anti-gambling factions in parliament to reduce primarily online gambling industries growth over recent years in the UK.

The Lords report focuses mainly on the effect of online gambling to people who are in COVID-19 lockdown and possibly gambling too much. It again also attacks the UK Gaming Commission as does the previous report.

However this report by the Lords calls directly on the government to reduce stake limits, a slowdown of online play, and a ban on gambling advertising around sports including football shirt sponsorship to protect children.

One politician involved in these recent reports calls for a stake limit matching that of Fixed Odds Betting Terminals (FOBTs) which is now £2. Richard Holden MP within the ruling Conservative Party also wants to close down the UK Gambling Commission and found a tougher stronger regulator.
