August 3rd Deadline Decision For Gaming Industry Events

UK based Conference and exhibition organisers will know their fate on or before the 3^rd August if they can open for business and welcome customers back.

According to unconfirmed reports from government sources the industry that has suffered the most since the COVID-19 pandemic is the hospitality and events sector including theatres, will decide if it is safe to open the industry that generates some £30 billion a year to the UK economy.

Gaming focused events such as conferences, awards and exhibitions have been forced over recent months to move to a virtual environment or cancelled for 2020. But with what is the busiest time of the year for all types of conferences with the Autumn period coming the UK government will decide dependant on the numbers of infections falling to allow mass gatherings.

This is the only way events can operate, indeed many theatres survive all year round on the traditional pantomime season and with deadlines approaching for them to decide whether to start rehearsals along with companies deciding to invest in events in all areas the government will now make a final decision on whether to save the industry by the 3^rd August.

It is understood that IF infection numbers continue to fall over the coming weeks the events industry will be given the green light, however there will certainly be restrictions, one of those will be temperature checks on all attendees before entering events and a possible number capacity which the iGaming Post believe could be 300, but this is not confirmed.

This number for some would be survivable but for exhibition organisers it would be impossible to run, such as the ICE London Gaming Expo in February.

However as the Autumn approaches a final decision initially on events and theatres for the season into the Christmas period will be only a few weeks away.

Many companies are hoping infection rates continue to fall and their businesses are able to start up again.
