Ontario iGaming Revenue Reaches CA$416.3 Million in September

Ontario’s regulated iGaming market recorded CA$416.3 million in net gaming revenue in September 2026, an increase of 26.2 percent year-over-year, while active player accounts climbed to a record 1.41 million. The figures, drawn from the latest monthly market performance report, underscore the continued maturation of the province’s commercial online gambling sector more than four years after its launch.

Monthly Performance at a Glance

Total cash wagers for the month reached approximately CA$9.71 billion, placing September among the strongest months in the market’s history. The result follows a record-setting summer, during which the market posted an all-time high of CA$9.88 billion in wagers in July, alongside CA$413.6 million in revenue. August brought CA$8.14 billion in total wagers, with online casino games accounting for roughly 89 percent of market activity.

September’s year-over-year revenue growth of 26.2 percent outpaced the expansion in wagering volume, suggesting improvements in operator hold rates and product mix rather than growth driven solely by increased betting activity. Active player accounts rose to approximately 1.41 million, a new monthly high that reflects continued expansion of the player base across the province.

Casino Dominance Continues

Online casino gaming remains the primary revenue engine of the Ontario market. Throughout 2026, casino wagers have consistently represented close to 90 percent of total market volume, with sports betting contributing a smaller but seasonally variable share. Sports betting revenue has fluctuated considerably in recent months, influenced by event calendars and operator hold rates, whereas casino revenue has demonstrated steadier, incremental growth.

The sustained dominance of casino products presents both an opportunity and a consideration for operators and regulators. While the category delivers predictable revenue, it also concentrates player activity in verticals that carry heightened attention from responsible gambling stakeholders.

The Ontario market, which opened on April 4, 2022, has become one of the largest regulated online gambling jurisdictions in North America. Annual performance has grown at a rapid pace: fiscal year 2024–25 generated CA$82.7 billion in total wagers and CA$2.9 billion in total gaming revenue, representing growth of more than 30 percent over the prior year.
