Packer gets green light for Sydney casino

BarangarooJames Packer has receive final approval for his casino resort in Barangaroo on Sydney Harbour, the $1.5 billion casino development was approved by the local government under some strict conditions that only VIP gamblers are allowed in and that there are definitely no poker machines.

The NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell says it will be restricted gaming facility for high-rollers, Crown will now see the parliament rubber stamp the development this week, however it still must pass planning and licensing it is expected that the resort will be now built and ready for 2019.

New South Wales Premier Mr O’Farrell said he has given it the green light because of the economic benefits for the state.

“Not just the 1,300 jobs during construction but also the 1,200 on going jobs and the additional revenue to government,” he said.

“What Crown is guaranteeing is a minimum of a billion dollars over the first 15 years in operation. But their business case model suggests that figure will be far higher.”
