Thailand Wage War Against Illegal Gambling On Euro 2020

The Prime Minister of Thailand has ordered his law enforcement agencies to crackdown on internet gambling websites especially those focusing on the current Euro 202 Football tournament.

Government spokesperson Traisulee Traisaranakul said that the Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O-Cha is very concerned is a spike in online betting while the tournament takes place in Europe.

Thai gamblers are known to love betting on sports and especially football and the government are ordering law enforcement agencies to go after operators and also agents taking the bets.

The order comes as rumours continue in Thailand that the government is still considering legalising gambling there as part of a drive to bring the huge amounts gambled illegally under government control.

Analysts believe that if Thailand were to legalise casino gambling it could generate some $170 million a year in taxes.
