Travel Restrictions Ease In Macau As Stocks Soar

Macau casino operators had good news Monday when the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) lifted all COVID-19 travel restrictions to mainland China.

The news helped casino operators shares soar, Galaxy Entertainment shares rose 10%, with both Wynn Macau and Sands China jumping 7% in the hope that revenues will now recover from the disaster of 2020 when they fell 79% in the year to $7.56 billion.

In its announcement the SAR government said it was lifting restriction on quarantine and health screening in Shijiazhuang city of north China’s Hebei and Suihua city in Northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province as the pandemic had receded, meaning that now all mainland China can travel to Macau without any health checks.
