AGA President Bill Miller said: “COVID-19 devastated our business and the employees and communities across the country that rely on casino gaming´s success,” he went on to mention hospitality by calling it a “standstill” involving live entertainment, meetings and conventions.
“Hospitality and travel have been among the sectors hardest hit by the pandemic,” Miller said. “These numbers show the economic realities of COVID-19 and underscore the importance of targeted federal relief and ramped-up vaccine distribution.”
The AGA report also showed that casinos lost 27% more operating days due to CVODI-19 than any normal year because of enforced closures. However the association said that now 911 casinos of the 998 within the US are now up and running.
