Gamal Abdelaziz has resigned as President and Executive Director of Wynn Macau Ltd, reported a filing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange last Friday.

The ex-President of the Wynn Palace casino project said he had stepped down “in order to pursue other opportunities.”

Having spent 12 years as a Senior Executive in MGM Resorts International’s hospitality division, Mr Abdelaziz first came on board with Wynn Resorts in 2013. He went on to lead the development and opening of the firm’s Cotai project Wynn Palace, which opened in August of this year.

A press release from Wynn Resorts stated on Friday: “Earlier today, Mr Gamal Aziz resigned his post as president of Wynn Macau Ltd. Mr Aziz was brought in to lead the development and successful opening of Wynn Palace Cotai. Having completed that assignment, Mr Aziz resigned with the thanks of the board of directors, [which] expressed its gratitude to Mr Aziz for his significant contributions to the company.”

His replacement is Ian Coughlan, who has served as President of Wynn Macau (the local unit that holds the Wynn group’s Macau gaming concession) since 2007. Mr Coughlan has over 35 years hospitality experience at leading resorts and hotels across Asia, Europe and the United States.

“Mr Coughlan, as President of the company and Wynn Resorts (Macau), will be responsible for the entire operation and development of [the] Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace [properties],” said Wynn Macau Ltd in its Friday filing.
