French gaming operator Groupe Partouche has lost out in its bid for inclusion in the selection process to operate an integrated resort in the city of Nagasaki. The Japanese city government announced its shortlist naming Oshidori International Holdings Ltd, Casinos Austria International Japan, and the Niki Chau Fwu Group as the final three.

In total five companies applied for the selection process and now that the city has decided the next stage goes to what is termed “competitive dialogue” which will take place in May this year and then the final decision will be made in August on who will represent Nagasaki for the chance to gain one of three integrate resort licenses in the country.

Once that is complete all those cities applying will have to wait till spring in 2022 to apply to the countries government and it is expected the cities will be named in 2023 with construction starting in or around 2025.

With Japan still not guaranteed to get to development  with opposition parties and a majority of the public not in favour of casino resorts it is yet to be seen if any of those casino operators applying will ever get to break ground on building a resort.
