Kazuo Okada
The battle for Okada Manila took another turn over the weekend when on Friday 2nd September officials from Japan’s Universal Entertainment Corp accompanied by regulator Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) raided the premises under its order to retake the premises from the current control of Tiger Resort Leisure and Entertainment which is controlled by Kazuo Okada.
On Sunday the 4th previous control by Universal Entertainment said it was now running the resort which is valued at $3.3 billion after the raid and it was “generally peaceful” in its transition.
Pagcor it had withdrawn its recognition of Tiger Resort Leisure and Entertainment as the rightful operator and said that Universal Entertainment had legal right to operate.
Okada Manila started operating in 2016 with then Kazou Okada as chairman of Universal but was ousted the following year from the board and company. Ever since there has been legal disputes on who actually owns and operates what is the largest casino resort out of four in the Philippine capital.
