Pennsylvania Sports Betting Sector Records Revenue Growth in July 2026

In July 2026, Pennsylvania’s regulated gambling market recorded year-over-year expansion, primarily driven by the sports betting and interactive gaming (iGaming) sectors. According to data released by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), total gaming revenue across the state reached $591.1 million, representing a 5.99 percent increase from July 2025. The sports wagering segment specifically yielded higher returns, supported by betting volumes associated with the knockout rounds of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Key Sports Betting Metrics
The PGCB report outlines clear increases in both betting handle and taxable revenue for the month. The primary figures for July 2026 include:

  • Total Sports Betting Handle: Bettors wagered a total of $509.5 million, marking a 23.5 percent increase compared to the $412.5 million recorded in the same period last year.

  • Taxable Revenue: The sports betting sector generated $51.8 million in taxable revenue, which constitutes a 27.75 percent year-over-year increase from $40.5 million.

  • Operator Win Rate: Sportsbooks achieved a hold percentage – or operator win rate – of approximately 12.7 percent, a distinct increase from the rates observed in the preceding month.

Within the digital sports betting market, major operators maintained their market share. FanDuel Sportsbook processed $165.7 million in wagers, resulting in over $25 million in gross revenue. DraftKings Sportsbook closely followed, accepting $163.8 million in bets. Together, these two platforms accounted for the majority of the state’s online sports betting volume.

A Balanced View of the Gaming Sector
While digital platforms experienced distinct growth, the traditional brick-and-mortar casino market presented mixed results. The iGaming segment produced $249 million in revenue, a 9.09 percent increase from July 2025. Conversely, retail engagement showed signs of stabilization and slight contraction. In-person table games recorded a 5 percent decline in revenue compared to the previous year, although retail slot machines saw a marginal increase of 2.5 percent. Overall gaming activity in July generated $256.8 million in tax revenue for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
