Betfred based in Manchester outbid Boylesports in the sale which Ladbrokes and Gala Coral had to sell in order for the merger to be granted by the competitions commission.
It is not clear how much Betfred bid to seal the deal but reports say that Boylesports lost out with a €118 million offer. Should the deal be confirmed it will propel Betfred to one of the top 4 bookmakers in terms of retails outlets which the currently have 1,370.
An announcement officially confirming the deal is expected this week.
