Harrah’s Starts Dealing in Atlantic City Sports Betting Days After Legalization

May 14th, 2018 was a big day for the casino and gaming industry in the United States. The repealing of the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) allowed casinos to engage in professional sports betting across the country.

From mega players like Las Vegas-based MGM Resorts International to New Jersey’s Monmouth Park and Meadowlands racetracks to Atlantic City’s Borgata, Ocean Resort and Bally’s have started accepting sports bets from patrons across state lines.

The newest member joining this line up is Harrah’s, a subsidiary of the famed Caesars Entertainment Corporation and a sister concern of Bally’s Casino. Reports indicate that Harrah’s is all set to offer Caesars Entertainment’s first mobile-friendly sports betting facility to users.

According to the President for Caesars Entertainment (Atlantic City) Kevin Ortzman, once State Regulators authorize and legalize online sports betting, it is just a matter of time before Harrah’s works its magic. Currently, the casino has all the technology and the funding it needs to take gaming and sports betting to the next level in the US. By blurring the boundary between offline and online betting, Harrah’s intends to make sports betting more convenient and comfortable for players.

As part of its foray into sports betting, Harrah’s joins MGM and Bally’s in signing commercial deals with its sister casinos and other gaming and casino companies. While MGM Resorts International has confirmed its partnerships with United Kingdom-based owner of Ladbrokes, GVC Holdings and USA-based Boyd Gaming Corp and Bally’s accepted their first bet on Monday; Harrah’s is in the process of finalizing the terms of its sports betting project with its head office Caesars Entertainment Corporation. According to reports given to The Associated Press, Harrah’s will stagger the opening of their sports betting wing across states.

The Atlantic City Harrah’s is expected to accept its first bet today, while the branches at Gulf Coast in Biloxi and Horseshoe Tunica are set to accept their first bets by mid-August. Soon, the company intends to go the MGM route and strike agreements with other gaming providers to become one of the largest acceptors of sports bet on the East Coast.

The fourth casino to accept sports bets in Atlantic City, Harrah’s is already well on its way to becoming one of Caesars Entertainment’s leading players. With their state-of-the-art technology, massive funding, large & loyal client base, they may soon be the front-runners to rule over the world of online sports betting.
