Las Vegas Sees More Customers But Numbers Still Depressed

The Las Vegas Strip has been seeing more customers enter their venues but revenues are still well below expectations.

February results reported by the Nevada Gaming Control Board show that statewide revenues for Nevada are 26% lower than the same period in 2020, that is just one month prior to the COVID-19 outbreak hit the US.

Although tourist figures rose 19% from January this year to 1.5 million, it is still a depressed 54% lower than February 2020.

Hotel room occupancy is 87% lower than the same period last year, even thou it is up 10% from the previous month said the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.

The month saw casinos win $772.4 million a slight increase from the month before, but not close to the $1 billion win in February 2020 which was one of Nevada’s biggest ever win figures.

Nevada are expecting March to have a marked improvement on last year given the hit casinos took from closing down due to the start of the pandemic in 2022.
