The Macau Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau reported the August figures for casinos showing a 50.7% fall in revenues for the month compared to the previous period in 2021.
Total revenues for the month stood at MOP2.19 billion (US$270.8 million) but was a marked improvement on the previous month of July showing a rise of 450% in revenues. However, July and the start of August for operators saw restrictions in travel from mainland China and the 12-day COVID shutdown in Macau.
Now in its eighth month of the year total gross gaming revenues stand at MOP28.86 billion which is 53.4% lower than in the same period last year.
