MGM Resorts Agree To Pay $800 Million To Mandalay Victims

Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino owned by MGM

Following the 2017 mass shooting outside the Mandalay Bay Casino & Resort in Las Vegas which is owned by MGM, a deal has been reached by the company and its victims. In total some $800 million will be given to the 58 victims killed and hundreds injured during that terrible evening during a concert.

As part of the settlement all parties involved will drop their litigation against MGM Resorts and also MGM will not admit liability for the tragedy that saw a gunman enter the resort, book into a hotel room carrying an arsenal of guns and open fire on concert-goers on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Casino & Resort.

CEO & Chairman of MGM Resorts Jim Murren said that “prolonged litigation around these matters is in no one’s best interest. It is our sincere hope that this agreement means that the scenario will be avoided.”

“Our goal has always been to resolve these matters so our community and the victims and their families can move forward in the healing process. This agreement with the Plaintiffs’ Counsel is a major step, and one that we hoped for a long time would be possible.”
