Soffer had been lobbying hard to be allowed to transfer his current Fontainebleau Resort license to Miami but the most powerful Republican in Florida has stated that the special session on May 17 to approve a new gambling compact with the Seminole Tribe of Florida will not have time to discuss Soffer’s hopes of the transfer or even Trump’s Resort license hopes.
In an interview over the weekend Simpson said: “We will not contemplate moving a casino license out to the Fontainebleau,” he went on to say, “I do not think that that’s being contemplated in this special session, I actually I know it’s not.”
