Nevada Regulator To Fight On Against Steve Wynn

The battle between Steve Wynn and the Nevada Gaming Control Board will continue following a decision by the board to appeal the recent decision by the Clark County District Court stating that regulators do not have the power to discipline or punish him.

In late November the local court ruled that Steve Wynn should not be fined or punished by the regulator as he no longer has any connection with Wynn Resorts.

“Respondents fail to provide any authority supporting their jurisdiction over a person no longer involved in Nevada’s Gaming Industry in any capacity,” the ruling from the court said. It was in direct contradiction to the control board who have sought to penalise Wynn following the allegations in early 2018 from the Wall Street Journal that Steve Wynn was accused of sexual misconduct again employees of the company. He has always denied those allegations but the following month in 2018 resigned and sold all his shares in Wynn Resorts.

With the decision to appeal the ruling the control board will now take their case to the Nevada Supreme Court, with the regulator wanting to fine and ultimately stop Steve Wynn ever holding a license to operate a casino resort in the state again.

However it is unsure how the judgement will play out when it reaches the states Supreme Court, also there are rumours that Steve Wynn is looking at entering Nevada again with the possible acquisition of Sheldon Adelson’s Las Vegas Sands portfolio of resorts in the state following the announcement the company are looking to sell off the entire estate in Las Vegas.
