New Jersey Online Gambling Revenue Slows Down

PokerStars ready to spend big in New Jersey to announce their arrival back in the US.

New Jersey’s Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) has released August’s online gambling revenue. The figures show a drop from last month’s record revenue of $17.4 million. August’s revenue of $16.1 million is a 32% increase from last year and marked the 5th month in a row when the $16 million mark was exceeded.

 

Online poker also gained a significant 10% rise with a revenue of $2.2 million. PokerStars was was the best performer for the month, raising $865, 150. It’s closest competitor, WSOP.com/888 raised $699,500 with Borgata/ PartyPoker raising $608,800. The typical summer slump seems to have had no effect on the poker world as it rose 10.7% from the same time last year.

 

Online casinos continue to be the main source of revenue with a contribution of $13.9 million to the month’s revenue. Golden Nugget raised an impressive $3,5m to get ahead of Borgata who raised around $3.1 million. Ceasars Interactive Entertainment, raised $2.4 million through online casinos to come in third on August’s rankings. Totally, online casino revenues are up by 33% compared the same month last year.

 

Overall, Borgate Casinos and it’s affiliated sites were the top contributors to the revenue with Golden Nugget coming in a close second. Ceasars Interactive Entertainment, Resorts Digital Gaming, and Tropicana rounded off the list with combined poker and online casino revenues of $3.1 million, $2.89 million and $2,85 million respectively.

 

Land based casinos raked in a disappointing win figure $229.8 million, a 7% drop compared to last month with the state’s total gaming win dropping 5% to $245.9 million. Overall casino wins look to be on track to avoid a tenth consecutive annual decline. Currently, the win stands at $1.639 million slightly ahead of the $1.635 million from this time last year.
