New York Must Wait For Casino Expansion

Casino companies hoping that New York legislatures will work on allowing for three casinos in downstate New York before the end of the legislative session this week will be disappointed.

It has been two long years for all those supporting casino expansion in New York to try and remove the ticket that prevents three more casinos to be developed before 2023 by lawmakers and it looks like their efforts are to fail.

Back in 2013 residents in New York voted in support of seven casinos being built in the state, at the time four were allowed and the final three were decided not to be developed till 2023 at the earliest. However parties supporting casinos have tried and look ultimately to fail in their attempt to remove this restriction and have the m built earlier.

But Governor Andrew Cuomo and legislative leaders seem not willing to push the legislation through before the session ends this week meaning it will almost certainly now have to wait till the 2023 date comes along.

The reasoning by lawmakers was to see the impact of the casinos already up and running and how they would compete against the North East states casino operations. But operators have promise $500 million for each of the three casinos a year IF they were allowed them now.

But Cuomo is opposed to speeding up the process by saying in April this year, “I am opposed to any casino authorization plan that pushes the timeline.”
