Currently Singapore Pools has a monopoly in online gambling
Currently online gambling is illegal in Singapore under the Remote Gambling Act covering both telephone betting and all online gambling activities, but many overseas gambling sites offer online gambling and the hope is that by legalising the Singapore Pools and Singapore Turf Club (STC) it will stop illegal online operators.
No decision has been made but many observers believe the government will allow the STC the license in a trial to see if it does stop outside gambling on sites that are not able to be regulated.
The only comment from the government was from the Ministry of Home Affairs saying it is only evaluating applications from Singapore Pools and STC at this time.
